Ingredients

If you’re looking for a crowd-pleasing appetizer that’s as fun to make as it is to eat, you’ve got to try these Tin Can Nachos. Using Cache Valley Creamery’s shredded cheese, this dish is packed with flavor and perfect for any occasion. Give your guest’s taste buds a little razzle dazzle!

  • 16 oz corn tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded Cache Valley® Creamery Cheese (Four Cheese Mexican)
  • 1 cup of shredded Cache Valley® Creamery Cheese (Mozzarella)
  • 1 cup of Black Beans
  • 2 cups of your favorite meat (Tri-tip steak, Pulled Pork, or Shredded Chicken Breast work wonderfully)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar bbq sauce
  • 3/4 cup Meadowgold Sour Cream
  • 1/2 cup Pico de Gallo
  • 1/2 cup Guacamole (optional)
  • 2 tbsp of green chiles, diced
  • 2 tbsp sweet onion, diced
  • Cilantro for garnish
  • 1 Cup of sweet corn

Steps

  • Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Cook your meat of choice. If you’re using tri-tip steak, grill or sear it to medium-rare and slice thinly.
    • For pulled pork or shredded chicken, cook until tender and shred.
    • Dice the sweet onion and slice the green chiles thinly.
    • Have all your ingredients ready to assemble the nachos.
  • Layer the Nachos:
    • Preheat your oven or smoker (I love using my Traeger) to 375°F.
    • In a large oven-safe dish or a tin can (I use 5-quart), start with a layer of corn tortilla chips.
    • Add a generous handful of shredded Cache Valley® Creamery Cheese on top.
    • Layer on some black beans, your cooked meat, and drizzle a bit of brown sugar BBQ sauce.
    • Add another layer of tortilla chips and repeat with the cheese, beans, meat, and BBQ sauce.
  • Bake the Nachos:
    • Place the dish or tin can in the oven or smoker and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  • Add Fresh Toppings:
    • Remove the nachos from the oven and top with pico de gallo, guacamole (if using), sour cream, thinly sliced green chiles, diced sweet onions, and corn.
    • Garnish with fresh cilantro.
  • Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve the nachos directly from the dish or carefully remove the tin can to reveal the stacked nachos.
    • Enjoy this melty, flavorful treat with friends and family!
